William Bonin: Shattered Childhood and Adolescence
William Bonin was born the second of three children on January 8, 1947 in the State of Connecticut. His parents were alcoholics and so the children often came to the grandfather. Many years later it came out that grandfather was a child molester. In his youth, Bonin began to sexually abuse younger children. At 18, he signed up as a soldier with the U.S. Air Force and fought several years in the Vietnam War.
Serial killer Bonin receives the U.S. Good Conduct Medal Army
He received the Good Conduct Medal for his services to special engagement. Because he raped two soldiers during this time, he was suspended from duty in October 1968. At the age of 21, he kidnapped and raped several children. Bonin was then referred to a clinic for people with mental disorders who sent him to prison. William Bonin was released in May 1974 after doctors classified him as cured. In 1976, he was sent to San Luis Obispo prison in California after raping two other children. Although a 15-year prison sentence was pronounced, he was released again under conditions of 1978.
William Bonin: His murder series begins
In May 1979, Bonin started his series of murders. Most of the time he took children and teenagers with him in his van. He overpowered his victims and tied them mostly on hands and feet. He then raped her, beat her, and strangled her with her own T-shirts. Sometimes he stabbed her or made her drink acid. During his series of murders, there were up to four accomplices who helped Bonin do his atrocities.

Bonin's arrest and conviction
The California media began to report more and more of the Freeway Killer, who brutally raped his victims and then killed them. In May 1980, the police received a tip that led to William Bonin. After looking at Bonin's criminal record, you knew you could be on the right track. A surveillance team, formed in early June 1980, was now monitoring Bonin's future activities. On June 11, 1980, the surveillance team noticed how Bonin led a youth to his van and disappeared into it. After a few minutes they struck and caught the serial killer red-handed. After having committed 21 murders, he and his four accomplices were found guilty of at least 21 murders. On February 23, 1996, William Bonin was executed 16 years after he was detained at the San Quentin State Prison.
