Because of his modus operandi he was also known as British Jeffrey Dahmer: After he gave his victims food and alcohol in his apartment, he strangled them and kept the corpses in his apartment for days, to gradually dismember them. He repeatedly carried out sexual practices with the human remains.

A wastewater blockage reveals the serial killer
When Nilsen moved and no longer had any possibility of burying the body parts in the garden, he quickly washed them down in the toilet. After a blockage in the sewage system, an employee of the plumbing company Dyno-Rod noticed body parts in the neighbor's water pipe and immediately called the police. Dennis Nilsen was arrested in February 1983. On November 4, 1983, the court sentenced him to life imprisonment.
